The Ellen Elphick Dance Academy seeks to provide children with the highest quality dance training enabling each individual to take Exams, Class Awards and develop their artistry as well as technique.  All of our teachers hold current DBS checks and Dance Teaching Qualifications.  Children will gain confidence, creativity and inspiration by attending our Academy.  They will become rounded individuals and gain skills that they may use later in life.

Principal and Teacher of Dance

Ellen is a graduate of The Royal Ballet School Upper School and Elmhurst Ballet School Lower School.  Ellen danced as a professional ballerina with The Hong Kong Ballet, Scottish Ballet and The Royal Ballet.  Ellen has performed in numerous ballets including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Cinderella and Elite Syncopations, to name a few.  Ellen performed Rite of Spring, Manon and Sleeping Beauty with The Royal Ballet and toured to Taipei with The Royal Ballet performing Giselle.  Ellen has danced internationally and toured with ballet companies to America, China, Taipei, Macau, Greece, Hong Kong and Prague and has danced nationally in Scotland and England.  Ellen was a finalist in the Young British Dancer of the Year 2011 and the Molly Lake Awards 2011 where she danced classical ballet variations as a solo to a large audience.  Ellen took part in the American Academy of Ballet summer intensive in 2010 and was awarded the prize for the most 'Dedicated Student'.  Ellen also won the 'Most Promising Dancer' at Elmhurst  in 2007 and the 'Dancing Boutique Award' in 2008.  Ellen Represented the Royal Ballet School in 2011 in a performance to the delegates showing De Valois technique.  Ellen also represented the Royal Ballet School in choreography competitions and solo evenings. 

Since retiring from the stage, Ellen has gained her Professional Dancers' Teaching Diploma  from the Royal Academy of Dance and holds Registered Teacher Status.  Ellen teaches at many schools across London including The Royal Academy of Dance Headquarters and Artsed London.  Ellen loves developing students artistry, giving youngsters a voice through movement and allowing them to facilitate this.  At EEDA dancers can learn in a safe and nurturing environment where they can explore different movements and grow in confidence.  Ellen has a passion for teaching and is extremely excited to start and develop her own Dance Academy and can't wait to watch her students blossom into confident, mature dancers.
